Director of Legislative Affairs

The Director of Legislative Affairs Position is now open.  Per the Associated Students Restated Bylaws this vacancy will be filled by approval of the Associated Students Board of Directors. The position will be open beginning Thursday, February 2, through noon on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012.  

The Director of Legislative affairs is a voting member of both the Government Affairs Committee and the Board of Directors.  The Director of Legislative Affairs is responsible for educating students about all legislative action which affects students.

A candidate must have:

  •  Completed 45 units at CSU, Chico.

  • Been enrolled in at least 9 units if an undergrad and a 6 units if a post-grad student and have been enrolled as a student at Chico State in Fall 2011.

  • Upon filing for office, and at any time during each semester in which he or she files for and holds office must have a minimum cumulative campus GPA of 2.0 if an undergrad and a 3.0 if a post grad.

  • Shall not be on academic or disciplinary probation at any time during each semester in which he or she files for and holds office.

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

The officers:


  • Establish overall policy and direction for the Associated Students as well as oversee the management of its operations.

  • Award money to student clubs and organizations for hosting events that provide additional educational benefit and entertainment value to the campus.

  • Staff and support committees and councils that allocate resources, help set policy and improve communication with the community.

  • If you are interested in becoming involved, a great first step is
    to join a committee or council.
    The commitment is minimal, often
    no more than two hours per week. Positions are generally filled at the beginning of the fall semester for each academic year.
