Freshmen Leadership Opportunity:
Learn more, do more, become more!
Freshman Leadership Opportunity (FLO) not only has a memorable acronym, but also happens to be an unforgettable program. Under the watchful eyes of a Coordinator and four Facilitators, each year the new generation of fifty FLO Students come to understand and value the FLO moniker CME, WE, SERVE.
Beginning with interviews, acceptance, and a retreat in the Fall Semester - the FLO students learn about the CSU, Chico campus as an individual, and then as a group through an array of presentations and leadership workshops brought to them by the facilitators as well as prominent leaders on the CSUC Campus. Once Spring Semester arrives, the FLO students are natural leaders and invited to take part in the Shadow Program. Orchestrated by the Coordinator, the students are placed with student and staff leaders on campus, such as leaders in the AS Women's Center and CAVE, in order to shadow' them and see leadership in action. During this time they also use what they learned in order to present community service programs to the Chico Community.
By the end of the school year, the FLO students who are dedicated to both the program and student leadership will find themselves in remarkable places on campus - many FLO alumni have gone on to be RAs, AS Officer, FLO Facilitators, and Women's Center leaders to name just a few.
