Laurie Hammond, Head Teacher - Blue Room

My experience ranges from 7 years of in-home care teaching to 4 years working for Parks & Recreation; 5 years in Special Education;  2 years in elementary school garden programs;  student teaching in 3rd and 5th grades;  16 years of teaching in College Children Center Lab programs with children, staff and student teachers.  Also, Steven and I raised our 18 year old son, Hugh.

Working with children, families and college students is joyful work of high integrity, and I love it.  My philosophy of teaching includes respecting the feelings and ideas of both children and adults, for we are all lifelong learners who share this %u201Cgarden planet.%u201D
